Greetings to all:
I need a little help on what has been the most reliable Jaguar I have ever owned. Never stranded anywhere in this car until today!
I strongly suspect a relay or something to do with transmission safety interlock.
Battery is fully charged. Started on first turn of key and car ran great earlier today.
Stopped at a store (thankfully close to home) and when I went to start it up,all dash lights show normal, but nothing turns over.
No solenoids clicking, not a sound out of the starter etc.
Reason I suspect the interlock is I was finally able to start by shifting to neutral & it fired right up and ran great.
Got it home, but same problem restating only this time I couldn't trick it by going into neutral. (same dead symptoms when you turn the key,
regardless of park or neutral shift position).
Have gotten so far as removing the wooden console surround and can see the shift lever mechanism.
Looks to be an electronic relay OAC 10736 to the rear of the bottom shift lever housing.
Also to the very front of the shift lever housing there is a silver mechanical switch or relay that attaches physically to the linkage.
*Jaguar /Lucas part # DBC 11071
Wondering if either of these two are the most likely suspects. (see attached)
Any help on this would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance
