Default AJI6 vs AJ6

Where does the AJI6 get it's extra 24hp over the AJ6? It would seem like if you want to pep up a six it would make sense to transplant in a AJI6 to start with rather than start modding an AJ6 if you're starting out 24hp behind.

I was just reading this... so I'll post. I have no further details.

"These are the "AJ16" engines, both now featuring coil-on-plug distributorless ignition, new engine management systems, magnesium alloy valve covers, revised pistons and other detail changes."

AJ16

Thanks for the reply Benjamin. I had seen that, but other than "changed engine managment", which might mean advanced ignition timing, I don't think its running richer because they are claiming the same fuel mileage. The cop I would think just means less ignition maintenance. I know the AJi6 has different heads and pistons but I think that was to resolve head gasket issues. I've been searching the web but don't see data about compresion ratios (I do,but they list the AJi6 for years before it was made, and 9.7 & 10 to 1 for the same engine. Don't see anything about valve sizes or if the earlier engine was happier on lower octane fuel than the AJi6 or if they had a different cam profile.
