antenna shorting plug.
Hi again,
I've fitted the boot spoiler to my '91 convertible and am rewiring a harness to control the auto antenna retraction when the boot lid is opened. This is as in the '95 electrical diagram.
Can anyone explain how the shorting plug works. It seems that one side of the plug is a live feed from the boot switch when open and the other is the live feed from the radio. What does the diode do/switch ???
Yes, l do have the correct antenna.
Thanks

Malc,
I don't know how it works, but having fitted an official Jaguar spoiler kit to my car a while ago including the wiring plug, I can confirm that the aerial now starts to retract as soon as the boot release button is actuated. That slightly confused me as I thought I'd read that the wiring would prevent the boot from being opened until the radio had been turned off. I need to go and look through the installation instructions to confirm why I thought that.
Cheers
Paul

Thanks Paul.
I got the wiring wrong, The wire from the boot light is a ground wire B/S and connects to ground when the boot lights are on, and the wire from the radio to the antenna and the shorting plug is live G/Y, when the radio is on. That must create a direct short antenna to grount HUH....
