My 2002 XJR (X308) with the "Premium sound" system has no RCA interface of any kind, only Ai-net (Alpine) interface.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Thanks, the AI-NET interface is a good start i guess. Do you know how to identify this capability? is there a specific head unit layout that identifies the 'Premium Sound' package?

Cheers

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the LCD display on the radio may be larger for the "Premium Sound" cars because of the GPS display. Besides, at the left end of the trunk/boot, the Premium system should have both, the GPS disk player and the sound amplifier, even when only the GPS device may be in view. And, like I mentioned before, being Alpine brand, the "Premium" ICE on my 2002 XJR uses Alpine's AiNet cables between all of the system's devices.

Cheers,

Default Navigation system

I picked up a navigation system out of a 2004 x that I would like to put in my 2005 x. I don't have the nav in mine, is it prewired? Anything to look out for? Thanks

I have a '96 XJS, the radio/ cassette player are working fine, but I thought I should maybe clean the tape heads before taking it out this spring. After looking inside tape slot I think if it aint broke just leave it. Any suggestions, obviously I am not tech saavy.

Just out of curiosity, Snowball, it is obvious that if you are cleaning the tape heads is because you want to get the very best sound that the system can provide. However, aren't you more concerned with the magnetic tape's poor signal durability? Unless you're still getting fresh cassette recordings, wouldn't you think that the sound quality of tapes from the cassette era would, by now, be fairly flawed? It's too bad that car radio technology trailed electronics technology so bad. CD was in-vogue already by years when my '94 XJS was manufactured, yet, the only thing they could offer for the head unit was...magnetic tape, yes, unless you procured the CD changer, as well.. Anyway, this is why this was the first improvement I proceeded to introduce on my XJS: Changed the OEM radio with a CD radio. Have you considered this?

Cheers,

No I just wanted to make sure the heads were clean, since I have only had the car a year. Yes I know a CD player would be the way to go, but to keep original, anyway I found a new head cleaning cassette and used it. Thanks for your help.

I just removed the stuck cassette from an Alpine AJ8700, and now the deck still thinks there's a tape in there so it keeps cycling between side 1 and 2. Any suggestions? I'd rather not replace it with a CD player.

My XJ6 94 has a aftermarket stereo, but it does not support the CD Changer. Are there any aftermarket stereos that due have the 8 PIN plug-in to control/power the CD Changer?

I apologize if this has a solution somewhere. I have been reading and searching...

Issue: 2000 VDP w/Alpine premium sound. Subwofer sounds terrible (blown?), very little bass in system. I had tweeters only when I bought the car. Replaced the factory amp and all speakers seem to work, but the sound is awful. All high end, some mid. I have the sub turned all the way down to stop the noise. (sub sounds blown)

Questions:

Where to get an OE sub? (or equivalent replacement)

Do I have more issues than just the blown sub?

Thanks!

Default XJ8 looses radio presets

Any idea why my 98 XJ8 looses radio presets after the car shuts off? I installed the radio a year or so ago and it seems like this just started a while ago (according to my daughter who drives the car)?

Thanks,

Thanks!

Just ordered new door speakers. I am going to try that. Head unit seems to function perfectly. The sub is blown and sounds bad as well. Door speakers were easy to find. OE sub was replacement was not. After a bit of research i found this for the sub replacement:

1998 xj8. We have fitted aftermarket did/sat nav/stereo unit.

We can't figure the direct wiring to the steering wheel controls - our SW wiring does not concur with the books or wiring info we hVe.

We have a plug at back of stereo that links to main harness and have empty pins there also have empty pins on the plug that comes from stereo. The stereo has a key 1, key 2 and ground wire coming from it but we not sure which pins they go to

Please can anyone help xx
