Default Assessing spark plug condition

Since I was nearby working on distributor, I pulled a few plugs to check them out

Here is the one from 3B. Looks pretty normal to me.


Here is the one from 3A:


The plug from 3A had very white and dry tip when I pulled. (Photo is after handling it a bit and it does not make it justice.)

Haynes book says that white tip with dry sooty deposits might indicate a rich mixture or weak ignition.

Should I be concerned? Is there a way to test further?

Hi V1rok

Since you've dug into it so far, why not replace all the Spark Plugs, while you are about it, they're really not that expensive to buy (in the scheme of things)

And could save you doing that job again further down the line.

I might as well. Given all the time and effort I made to clean up the Vee...

Does anybody remember what torque should be applied on the plugs?

Both are well within the range of 'optimum'.

+1 also.

New is just a thing with me.

I screw them in until the tapered seat makes contact, then a SMALL nip, and thats it.

There is a torque, but I dont know it and common sense works for me, and its simpler.
