Default Aux fan on with A/C

In Kirby Palm's book on page 228 there is a paragraph pertaining to having the electric fan run with the a/c. It says to pull the LG wire off of terminal 4 in the diode pack and connect it to a 12v supply. My car has a white wire to terminal 4. I would like to have my fan on when the compressor is running if possible. I am wondering if there is something screwed up in my wiring?? I have looked everywhere in the forums and the jag lovers archives and I can't find anything addressing this. I may not be searching correctly, not sure. Can anybody shed some light on the wiring or suggest a search method.........Thanks!!

Terry,

Not real sure on the '91??.

My '85 was original when I first got it in 1996, and the LH small electric fan always ran when the a/c was ON. It also ran on after shutdown, IF, the radiator temp was sufficient to have it ON prior to shutdown, confused, so was I.

This all went AWOL in late 1996, when that small fan seized, and a Ford twin thermo fan assembly went in. The LH fan is A/C only, and the RH is thermo only.

Does the small fan work at all???, as they do seize, and blow the fuse.

I cannot answer the wiring variance you have, sorry.

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific. This all stems from the fan not coming on last week end after a leisurely drive in 100+ heat and shutting the engine off. I haven't quite worked that out yet. The fan works fine if you take a 12v jumper and hook it up. I am going to go to strictly electric fans with adjustable controls, but, in the interim I'd like to get the fan to run with the a/c on.

Moot point now, I bought a 16" hayden fan and a 2 fan control to solve the problem. I have temporarily hooked the control to my aux. fan and it now comes on with the a/c and thermostatically. I will install the electric main fan when I have time to set aside a couple of days to dedicate to coolant change, fan install, debris removal etc.
