bumper shock modifacation?

Default bumper shock modifacation?

does anyone know a way that i could shorten or possible "tuck" the bumpers so i could fit them under my body kit?

not sure it's what you need, but seems like an option more than a few on this forum would want to look into.

also, youre on LI? in the city here, we should get together sometime for a ride when we're both ready to go.

i cut the adjustment bolts off of my gas shocks and adjusted them the way i wanted. JB weld to hold them in place.

I live in warwick which is about 60-70 min from midtown in the city

Evidently you can take a tap and tap the rest of the shaft that is on the gas struts all the way down. I haven't done this but there's info out there. I think it was a 10mm tap, just spin it on in place of the nut that holds the assembly to the car, and tap the rest of that shaft. Then, bolt it up, get it set as deep as you want it, and cut off the excess stud. You're essentially compressing that gas strut all the way.

Might want to do the back first, because the front looks like it'll be both a tight fit and very fiddly with LOTS of install / mark / remove / cut since that stud points right at the AC condenser.

I'm not 100% sure on that tap size.

i started to adjust mine, but after half a dozen turns the nut seized and the bolt started spinning. no turning back after that.

Well unfortunately i have wimped out and decided to put my bumpers through my body kit. I know it wont look as nice but i know if i dont ill get rear ended right away. Highschool parking lots are dangerous places as i found out today

just hide them underneath. adjusting the gas struts is easy once the nut is off. at least do a trial fit.
