Though this is not the time of year to worry about it, I'm trying to figure out why my A/C won't come on. It's a 94 XJS convertible that sat around a body shop for a couple years before I bought it.
The blower inside comes on, but I don't feel the compressor engage, thus no cold air through the vents. I imagine the Freon has long since gone, but not sure.
My heater didn't work either, but a replace of the heater valve fixed that issue.
If it's sat around without the aircon being used, there's a good chance that seals have dried out somewhere (possibly on the compressor) and the gas leaked out.
Take it to someone who understands the Jaguar system. They will evacuate the system, measure the gas, and then charge it to see if it can hold a vacuum.
with a sanden if there is no gas pressure in the system there is a pressure switch to protect the compressor from overheating by interuping the power supply.
