Hi wb (Pete) welcome to the forum.

I am moving this over to the XJS section for a technical reply.

Please however, post up a non tech' introduction over in the New Member area, you know the sort of info, a bit about yourself etc.

The guys like to get to know our members, as you will discover this is a very friendly forum

Others will chime in for the tech advice.

I gutted the cats on my 90 xj6, had no problems. If there is blockage the heat caused by the blockage will cause blown head gasket and or warped head(i know as my xj had plogged cats and thus the gasket problems)

They're not hard to ream out once they look like carbon brickets. Just break them into smaller pieces and dump. You may find that all four are shot.
