Center Vent Update
HI folks, thought I would post up how I modified an XJ40 center vent to fit my 89 XJS.
It required cutting the XJ40 vent and welding it back together.
See here for how to weld plastic.

It started out looking like this.

After removing the vents cut the ends off with a dremel.

Also trim the back so it fits between the wood trim and outlet.

Trim the surround to fit inside the wood trim. I went a bit too far and had to weld some plastic back on.

Original vent on top and new one. I did have to file the dash opening as the new vent is a couple of mm wider.

Complete and ready to go back in

Looks great!! I was planning to do this same exact thing with the vent from my 94 xj12. Thanks for doing all of the legwork
. The added plus is the xj40 vents are readily available cheap and just a hair bigger. I think we should sticky this write up.
