Choosing between two XJS for sale
So I have been looking for month for a nice XJS. At one point I was about to purchase an XJR100 with 64k for 9500 dollars but came accross these two XJS .
One is a white 1995 with 49 k for 11000 dollars all service records, beautiful paint beautiful top etc ,new brakes new tires .. Needs new driver bolster
The other
A Black 1996 XJS with 39k for 13800 dollars new tires ,new brakes ,beautiful paint ,top etc needs nothing ( I hope )
They are both very beautiful ! Do you think the black one is really worth the difference in price ?
Both have a 6 not the 12
Gosh I can't believe I can't make up my mind .. And there's the XJR100 too...for 9500 dollars

Did you mean to type $1100 or is it really $11,000?
If these cars are in similar condition then how can you go wrong for only $1100? Buy it!
The black car at $13,800 is over priced. Even if it has the (very rare for 1996) V12 its too much money.
I assume both of these are 6 cylinders?

Hi Terry
Do my eyes deceive me, or does that 'Black' car have a Wood and Leather Steering Wheel?
If so then it could be 'The Celebration Convertible' with the embossed leather seats and a 'Gold' Growler.
That being the Case then you have no mind to make up, as one day when prices start to take off in the way that they did for the 'e' type, then the Celebration Convertible.
Will be the most desirable of them all, especially if its a 96 as that was the last of the line.
If it is the Celebration Model, then its worth that money all day long but even if it isn't.
The white one doesn't hold up in the looks department compared to the 'Black' one.
Also the 'Black' one is coming from a dealership, so no doubt you will be getting some sort of Guarantee.
Which on an XJS could come in Handy. Lol
So knowing more than they do, go round it with a fine tooth combe and get them to put everything right.
On a slightly more serious note, there is no Contest here, 'Celebration Car' or not, it has to be the 'Black' one!
The dealer will almost certainly have a massive profit in it, so you're job now is to try and get the price down, without trying to come across as being over keen.
She's even got the Celebration Wheels on!
She has to be the Celebration Model! HMOG!
Maybe the Dealer doesn't know the difference, you would be surprised what they don't know.
Do not even breath the word 'Celebration' to the dealer or they will play hard ball but if She checks out, then don't leave the Showroom without her!

Both the 1995 and The 1996 XJS celebration belongs to a private parties . They took great care of their cars .
The XJR 100 with 67k for 9500 dollars was inspected thoroughly and it will cost me about 1 k to make it really nice ( new valve covers , speak plugs ,etc )
Gosh now I'm even more confused ...
I have been looking for an XJR for month could not find the right one , same for the XJS then now I have found three cars ! Life works in a very funny way

I have an XJS and X300, I'm looking to replace my X300 with an XJR, rare cars and symbolize Grace, space and pace. I'd seriously consider the XJR-100, those are rare and won't come around again. Good price and mileage, you can always pick up a cheap XJS down the road, they'll still be around.

I've got a 1995 Celebration Convertible in Red in immaculate condition and last year I turned down an Offer of £25,000 $39,215.
If that was a right hooker and it was over here, then I would buy it in a heart beat, as a Banker as that's the one that everybody wants.
And that's the one that will go up in value.

And only those who know would know the difference between an XJS and an XJRS or a "celebration" Sorry I fail to see your point. My point is if given the chance to own/drive and XJR100 for under 10k and a 6 cyl XJS for over 10k I'll take the XJR100. He asked for opinions, that's mine. And IMHO the XJR100 is plenty "eye candy" with the oomph to back it up, the 6 cyl XJS may be "eye candy" but that's where it stops.

Update . So I had the XJR100 inspected ,the car is in great shape paid $170 for the inspection , then agreed on a price ... Only to never hear back from the seller who's friend told me he no longer wants to sell it .
I did my research on the XJS , according to many of you the black one is over priced $13800 but seller won't bulge and the white ,well no one thought it was a good deal .
So I'm back to square one...

That car won't gain much traction over here in the long run, I'm afraid, as the XJS just doesn't have following base to support it at those $$ numbers.
Sounds like you guys should bring a string of various series XJS over and start a side business / make some good returns.

Hmmm.
A choice between a very limited production Jag with a supercharged six, or, an edition of the XJS that was built for about a year and a half, and has only the naturally aspirated version of the same motor.
I think I'd have to go for the XJR100, and I believe that of the two, the XJR100 has the best potential return as an investment.
It's a shame the guy backed out of the deal after you shelled out bucks for the inspection.

Quite honestly OB, if they are selling for that number, a LHD example would be worth bringing back to the UK, as I suspect you'd pocket a good amount of dough regardless.

I am almost crying my eyes out, that XJS Celebration is being served up on a Golden Plate, that is encrusted with Diamonds.
Maybe not in your neck of the woods but I'd certainly like to buy it, depending on how much it would cost to Ship it over here.
