Default Codes P1400 and P1315

So I think I'm continuing down a rabbit hole and I need some suggestions:

Recently I had some issues with my car shuddering and poor fuel economy as described here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...etimes-188891/

I did fix it...temporarily it seems. The car was back giving me a mpg in the 20s as I was cruising down the freeways.

Yesterday afternoon I started the car, and I had strange cough at startup and before I could pull out of the parking lot, the car hesitated and the check engine light came on. P1400 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Postion Control) and P1315 (Persistent Misfire). In that order. (P1400 comes up first, then P1315)

Does one cause the other, or can it work either way? I bought the EGR at Advance Auto in 2014 and am going to return it under their Limited Warranty.

In the meantime, the shudder is back, as is the poor fuel mpg...I'm back in the 18s on the freeway.

So when I pulled off the EGR Valve, the Hylomar AF between the gasket and EGR is completely in tact.

The Hylomar between the gasket and the engine is gone. It has completely baked off. That stuff is advertised to work up to 250C...

I'm wondering if everything was fine until the seal baked off. The surface where the EGR mounts to isn't exactly smooth.

Hylomar was a bad idea. It cooked right off the engine to gasket side. Oddly enough, the asked to EGR was still thoroughly adhered together with the Hylomar.

I did exchange my 3 year old EGR that I bought from AdvanceAuto for a new one, under lifetime warranty, no hassle since I was able to pull the receipt off my purchase history on their website!

I also bought a tube of Ultra Copper RTV and smeared it on both sides of the new EGR gasket, tightened the bolts finger tight for an hour, then came back after an hour and torqued it down to 19 lbs-ft and drove home!

Mileage is back up to an average of 24mpg for mostly freeway driving! This issue, I hope, has been resolved permanently.
