Default Convertible maintenance

This is my first Jaguar. 1994 XJS. Is there any additional maintenance I need to do since it is a convertible. Are there drains to clean out? Lubrication of mechanisms?

I've had my convertible for 19 years and the only thing I would suggest is to use a good fabric roof cleaner once a year, and reproof as necessary. I also use a great product called Gummi Pflege on the rubber pieces that abut the windows and windscreen.

Apart from that, the car must be driven at all times with the roof down!! It's just the law!!

Good luck

Paul

Shortly after getting my 94 convertible I had a hydraulic leak. Could not find the hose anywhere except WW Grainger. It uses standard ferrel fittings for the connections. easy to repair once I found the tubing.

Always wash the car yourself and dont pressure wash above the belt line. Oh and dont wash the engine bay.

15yrs of driving my 93 in Arizona, top up and down, have given ZERO issues from the top operation. Notable related exception is the rear quarter windows which use relays (pink/purple) to tell the windows when the top goes up or down. The relays are seldom the problem when the windows stop operating as designed. The regulators are always the culprit. Because all regulators stop at the same place on the "up" and "down" positions, they created a "dead spot" on the contact. Replacement regulators are pricey, if you can find them. Remove the regulator and try manually moving the gear position to avoid the "dead spot".
