Coupe to Soft Top?

I ordered a new top for my 1994 XJS
the top guy said my car was made into a Convertible from a coupe?
on the Firewall serial number SAJJNXFD4RS192363 is stamped.
on the Vin plate at windshield is SAJNX2742RC192363

Question is who done it?

He's wrong. Your VIN indicates your car is an original 2+2 convertible.

Thank you I guess the XJS has a serial number then a VIN on the US models.

no, it has a "real" Jaguar VIN, then because it came to the US, it had to be given a secondary VIN that met some US standard.

Okay so SAJJNXFD4RS192363 is the Jaguar Factory Serial Number stamped on firewall ?
and SAJNX2742RC192363 Is the US Vin Number.

The State of Virginia put Coupe on my Vehicle Title.

Then they are so wrong. Its a 1994 xjs 2+2 4lt.

No, they are both VINs. The first is the official VIN defined by Jaguar. The second is a secondary VIN also allocated by Jaguar to meet US standards.
