Dash lights
Does anyone have any experience upgrading dash lights to LED. My facelift 1994 XJS bulbs are too dim. Any advice as to whether a DIY can do this?
also, any experience replacing rear four shocks? Can I tackle this on my own? Any shock recommendations.

I just ordered the dash bulbs on ali express...two different types are used there...one type for the back lighting for the speedometer, and one for the top warning lamps (20ea). Let you know how it goes once they get here. I've also done festoon bulbs on the interior too...a nice upgrade.
Rchuda,
I assume you mean the warning lights at the top of the cluster? It's quite feasible to replace those with LEDs, but there are potentially a few things to be aware of. Many LEDs are polarity -specific, so can only be fitted one way round, so a degree of trial and error is necessary. However, there are "polarity-neutral" bulbs available. Talk to Gil Keane at https://www.bettercarlighting.co.uk who can provide these types of bulbs.
Also, some owners have experienced issues such as the Auto Transmission light staying permanently dimly lit. This may be caused by the reduced wattage of the bulbs causing a "leak" through that bulb? Again maybe talk to Gil about how to avoid this issue.
Maybe start a different thread re. your rear shocks, as this thread may get quite complicated otherwise?
Good luck
Paul

I have had some luck buy cleaning the inside and outside of the display plastic strip.
The bulbs are very small 1/4 turn bayonet sockets.
If you need some, I have a few left over from my 94 project.
