Default de-pressurizing brake system (replace accumulator)

I picked up an accumulator on eBay fpr my 'new' 94 HJS 6 cyl.

Do I need to de-pressurize the brake system before replacing?

What is the procedure?

Thanks Gents!

The procedure is to turn off the car, and pump the brakes 25 times. That takes care of any residual pressure in the sphere.

be sure to get an Allen key socket for a ratchet because you'll never get that sphere off using just a cheap L Allen key.

Does the Accumulator Ball, self seal as you remove it or replace it or is there any danger that the Ball could fly off under pressure and really spoil your day.

Has anyone done a write up on how to replace one?

Mission accomplished! I got an allen key ratchet head. Pumped the pedal once hard while running (this was where I would get the brake and abs lights), held the pedal down, turned off the motor, pumped brake 25 times, removed the old accumulator. No pressure, and only a couple of drops of fluid dripped. Fastened on the new accumulator, topped off brake fluid. Started engine and got a brake warning light. I t went off after a minute and a few pumps of the pedal. Drove it around and the brakes are much better. Did a few panic stops at pending lockup, at 50 mph and all is fine. I didnt actually lock them up to see if ABS is working but my warning lights are gone and the brakes work well, Thanks Gents!
