Default Discount Relays made in China

http://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-40A-12V...item20bcc51165

Would these relays work for the convertible top in an xjs 1994? I have a couple faulty relays I purchased these as replacements. If they dont work I'm only out $8. They are not sealed so I was going to seal them myself after putting some deoxit on them.

5 relays for around $8 with shipping beats over $100 for the jaguar relays. I will compare the quality when I get these. I may replace all the relays with these new ones from this manufacturer.

I know a lot of you will say stick to Jaguar parts but a relay is such a simple device. The only reason the Jag ones go bad is because they are not sealed. I tried cleaning the original Jag relays but the corrosion has gone too deep...

I'm guessing the quality on these is just as good. All we are really talking about is a spring and a magnet.

I'll post photos of the internals of the ebay ones when I get them.

Relays are cheap, I keep some on hand and just replace as necessary.. I would not worry about sealing them.

Check your wiring diagrams to see if the factory relays have a snubber diode across the coil poles. If they do, you will need to add a diode into the circuit to perform the same job. Not a big deal to do, but you need to know about it.

A common 1N4001 or 1N4004 will do nicely. A bag of 50 is about $3 with shipping.
