Default electrical issue

Just recently (within the past week) i noticed that the battery was discharging very quickly when the car was turned off. Thinking that my less-than 1 year old batter was dead, i took it in for a test. The battery is fine, as is the alternator. That's where the confusion starts, for me.

They said that while the alternator was putting out 12.8 volts, it was "dropping off under load" ... and i've noticed it doing so even when driving (with my headlights on, or such)

I imagine this means that i have a short in the system.

Any help, or ideas where to start looking would be most appreciated.

an update. no battery drains, but the car does have the stock alternator, and voltage regulator, so the problem might just might be in those. I'm going to get both, and have them installed, and we'll see if that makes a difference.
