Default Facelift Front Bumper - Fiberglass or Plastic?

I think I've reached the conclusion that I need a new bumper cover for the 96 XJS. The one on it is shot. There's nothing left for an undertray to screw into anymore.

There is a fiberglass option out there, and I was wondering if that was a superior solution to the ABS plastic that the original is. I think I will be able to source either one, with the fiberglass commanding more money.

Is it worth it?

Thanks for the opinions.

Can you not repair yours with fibreglass?

I have fiberglass TWR bumpers on mine, the advantages are:

- They are stiff and do not sag
- They are repairable

On the down side

- They do break if you hit something

Cracked facelift bumpers are easily repaired with SEM 39767 Problem Plastic Repair. I ripped the entire bumper into two pieces, by hooking the edge on a fence post. With the SEM stuff and some scrap bumper pieces glued on as a backer, the bumper is good as new. The SEM stuff isn't too expensive but the dispenser is, but I've had one for years for other things. You'll Use is again if you do hobbyist bodywork. SEM makes good stuff. Try amazon for good prices.
