Default Facelift Trip Computer Problem

My trip computer is acting strange. It reads everything at a reduced rate. It also seems to be freezing up as well.

It's definitely set up for miles, but when I'm doing 55mph, it shows that I'm doing something in the 20s.

All of the other features are whacked out as well.

The clock feature seems to be working just fine.

Is there a fuse or some relay I should or can check? It's a 1996 XJS.

Thanks.

On my MY94 trip computer, the speed display is average speed since last reset, if yours is the same then that's why it reads lower.

Press and hold the reset button until you see 00:00 to reset the data. When you hit reset you must not be on Time display else you'll go into clock setup mode.

Cheers,

Allan

I reset my trip computer at every fill up.

That is not the problem.

I'm interested to see how this turns out. Mine is doing a similar thing, some readings not correct or no readings at all. Plus, when I turn the headlights on, the trip computer looses power and blanks. Probably a bad or dirty ground somewhere, just haven't had time to dive into that.

I would say you have probably diagnosed your exact problem in a dirty, loose or damaged ground. Should take 1/2 hour tops.

Hmmm, the tricky part is finding a spare half hour!
