Default Front sway bar replacement xjs 1992

Hello. I am trying to replace the stock sway bar for a thicker one, any suggestions on how to remove the old one? The bar is disconnected but I can't figure out how to remove it. Does it require to mess with the front subframe? what is the best and safest way to do it?
Thanks in advance

Yes, you will have to lower the suspension crossmember. Also you will have to separate the LH tie rod from the steering arm. Then you will be able to lift the sway bar off the links and pull it out of the LH wheel arch.

Obviously you will have to remove the wheel arch dust shields and the undertray also.

You can jack up the front and put it on jack stands then use a trolley jack to lower and raise the crossmember. Having someone to help is a big plus

Cheers,

Allan

I changed my front bar without dropping the subframe, it was a PITA.

I would put the car on jack stands and remove both front wheels remove the front subframe bolts and lower the front of the subframe enough to allow the bar slide out the RHS. Doing it this way will also give better access to the bar mounts and bushes. You might need to remove the shock mounting nuts if the shock prevents the subframe lowering enough.

While you are at it you will want to change the drop link bushes as well.
