Getrag 5 speed tranny in '90 XJS?
#2
Didn't think the US got the manual box until 92 (4.0l).
Pros, Fun, rare, more hands on driving. (I've always wanted a late manual trans XJS).
Cons, may have been thrashed, stick it in second and let rip. Clutch is present and will wear. May have more wear on drive train components due to high rev hot launches.
Almost by default, your shift points will be higher because it is your brain and not the car that controls them.
But I would still love to get my hands on one. Nothing like taking a whole host of sweeping curves with your feet, hands and head all working (hopefully) to give maximum momentum. Just not quite the same in an auto.
Tell you what, get two and I will help you get used to them. LOL
Cheers,
