Default Handbrake help

The large return spring has appeared! One end sticking out….any advice on how to put it back in place. I can’t see any diagram or info on handbrake set up. It still works ok.

1989 convertible.

all help appreciated!

That's broken I think - should be a hook on the end don't know if this helps, I can probably take a pic of mine if not, although mines in bits it is a bit of a challenge to get to it. The curly (top) one still seems to be available but the long one nr the bottom doesn't have a number looks like it only comes with the handbrake itself which of course is not - at least new. The spring is C46015 for US

Thanks. I’ve ordered a new one from England. What I can’t get my head around is where it exactly goes in that diagram! I assume I’m going to have to remove the drivers seat to get access…then disassemble the whole handbrake mechanism.

The short part hooks into the top of the lever - you can just see it in the second picture, the coil goes over the pivot, I'm not 100% certain how the long tail is restrained. I will do my best today to go get a decent picture off mine.

Thanks. I just can’t figure it out. Will be obvious when I’ve taken it apart no doubt!

I don't think you need to take it all apart but need to move it away from the sill a small amount - sorry still not taken any pics I can't open the door enough thanks to a wall proximity and the car is on jacks not wheels.
