Default Has anyone DIY'ed their soft top?

Mine is in a pretty poor state. I was wondering if replacement is a job that a DIY'er can do

It's on my list of to-do's, and I think it should be DYI'able. I would say if you are comfortable with things like replacing the seat upholstery, you would have the necessary skills for a convertible and headliner replacement. IIRC there were lots of videos online for how to (different car makes, but it should be similar tasks). I believe the key detail is getting it tight without being so tight it won't close properly. I also recall someone saying to do the job in the summer because the hot sun can help with wrinkles and fitting.

Good luck!

I have completed the entire top, insulation and headliner removal process.

I did not have to remove the rear window as I only restitched my original top. (Maybe someone can comment on window removal and replacement).

NOT DIFFICULT JUST TIME CONSUMING!!

If this is the first removal you may find the insulation (horse hair) may need to be replaced.

important to keep track of all the screws, etc to insure goes back in correct position. Use cardboard to hold all pcs in correct location.

I did not make a video but have lots of pictures.

there is a guy who has a video of how to remove. On U tube type in jaguar xjs convertible top removal.

You can send me a private email for any specific questions

Good Luck
