Default Help with fuel pump/injector relay wiring

I have a 1988 xjs w/v12 i messed and took the relays out of the jag and one of the relays control the fuel pump and the other fuel injection right above the battery in the truck.
The relays have a difference of a diode in the relays. there are two wiring harness that they connect to. one is red one black does anybody know which one the diode relay goes in so i do not blow out the new one thank you don"t know where is should post this..

Welcome aboard.

The diode relay goes in the RED socket, which is the "main relay.

The BLACK socket is the fuel pump circuit.

"Fuel pump" and "main"? Yes, two separate and different relays.

I assuming they have a different part number if one has a diode in it and the other doesnt. Because the part store sold me two of the same.

Different part numbers, yes.

As installed when the car was new the "diode" relays have a diagonal stripe across the top. Not sure about various replacements. That might depend on manufacturer

Most relays have an actual diagram of the internal circuit printed on the case...which should show diodes and resistors, if/when used.

Both the main and f/p relay should have terminal designations of 85-86-87-87-30. If your relays have designations of 85-86-87-87a-30, they are the wrong ones.

On the main realy the diode is between 86 and 85, with the diode before the relay coil and pointing towards 85

Cheers
