High Test or Regular?

High Test or Regular?
Hi
I was wondering if using high test gas is the way to go? I have a 1986 xjs. I have been told there is no difference in the gas quality, whilst some have told me to only use the expensive stuff? Help would be appreciated. Also what's your opinion on injector cleaner? Any brand that would recommend?
Lastly, some people have mentioned adding a cup of 2 stroke oil (which I have not done yet) to a full tank of gas. this seemed liked a bad idea to me. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

Your owners manual will state what the octane requirements are for the engine. Going below that risks inducing detonation (pinging) which on non-computer controlled engines can do serious damage.
The quality of gasoline does not vary from one octane level to another, just the resistance to detonation. Not sure what adding oil to the gas/petrol would do, at least in a positive sense.
Noticed that you're just up the road from me in Ottawa. Greetings!
