Default Inexpensive rear mufflers

This might be of some interest

I'm *almost* positive that the XJS....at least pre-facelift cars....use the same size rear mufflers as the Ser III XJ6/12 sedans.

Doug, how does it sound? I had my mid mufflers removed and open "growler" intakes and the sound change out the back is the same as with the mid mufflers installed. I'm considering replacing the rear resonators with glass packs as you did as the stockers do too good a job of keeping things quiet.

It'll be awhile before I know how they sound. I'll report back, though !

I replaced my rear silencers with 8" Cherry Bombs. The mid mufflers are still on the car. This sounds quite nice. Not at all loud, just a mellow glass pack sound. I believe it would be too loud for my tastes if the mid mufflers were gone.

Interesting find! Exhaust is on my short list, just after a new radio and fuel pump replacement. I was leaning towards a super turbo style muffler mid, and considering a cross pipe but hadn't thought too far ahead.

I’m not sure how to post a little Vid on the forum, in MP4 format.
I changed my rear silencers for small little HotDogs (resonators) and chrome tips, cost me $150 a side but makes a nice note out the rear. If I could find out how to post it I can share it with you.
I personally wouldn’t put in a H pipe, I like hearing each bank on its own, can show faults.
