Install Alternator three Parts
1993 XJS 6cyl
Part One: There seems to be no question that the Alternator must come out from the top. Trying to take it out from the bottom or underneath you run into the problem of removing the torsion bar. Removing it from the top requires removing the air filter and the lower radiator hose.
Part Two: The least expensive Alternator I found was from Amazon at $111.00 and if you take their credit card offer it nets out to $60.00. no core charge and free return. The Alternator looked identical to the Denco with a Jaguar label that I removed from the car.
Part three: I have a problem with the charge light. It will not go out while the motor is running, The in car volt meter reads 14 volts when running.. I suspect the regulator in the Alternator. Tried to determine problem by following wiring diagram in "Electrical Guide 1993" starting at figure 3. with no luck. I know the battery is keeping the light on, but have no idea where to look to turn it off ???
1., ADDED: NO CHARGING AT BATTERY,, IS THERE A FUSE OR FUSABLE LINK BETWEEN THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY?
2> looked AT Doug's related thread. No help but TUVM!....My removed alternator smoked but didn't flame as some have reported
