Default Keyless Remote Entry on early 80s XJS

Hi Everyone, I have a 1984 XJS coupe that I recently took in to have an alarm system installed. They told me that they were unable to get the remote/keyless entry to work. The tech said that the door locks use some kind of pneumatic relay to unlock both doors when you unlock/lock the drivers side and that they just couldn't figure out how to connect to it.

Its a Viper System that was installed, they said its all set up if someone was able to figure out how to connect it.

Has anyone here been able to set up a keyless entry system for their early 80s XJS? Id love to hear some possibilities.

Pneumatics? No, no true

You have a 'lock' relay and an 'unlock' relay. It's a simple matter to configure the RKE system to trigger the relays. I've done it on 3 different Jags. Get the wiring diagram to your installer and he should be able to figure it out.....although if he thinks the system is pneumatic perhaps a different installer is in order?

The S57 wiring guide is in one of the sticky threads at the top of this section

I'll save you some time

Scroll down to "wiring diagrams S57 Series III" and open it

The first section of the book covers the Series III Sedans. The second section cover the early XJS like yours
