Let’s go racing?
That’s good news. I can put the 5.3 heads on and get maybe 12.5-1 compression. ( have to double check the valves don’t hit). I’ll have to retro a distributor in so I can adjust the timing. With 2 inch SU carbs, and reground cams. Hopefully starting with 314 hp. Advancing the timing to around 38 degrees from the previous 17 increase in compression. Eliminate the dog leg on the intake and going from 1&3/4 Strombergs to 2 inch SU’s plus the camshafts. I might get near 500 horsepower. I know both Piper and Kent have better cam profiles. But I can get my cams reground to the Offenhauser profile locally for only $122 each. ( it’s the same One as Isky grinds).
the Audi V12 diesel came only in the Q7 SUV awd car sold only in Europe!
only way to visual tell, is it says V12 on the grill, trunk, small letters! very rare low sales.

Then it wouldn't be a Jaaaaag
hey van , if anyone has checked the performance specs of the Q7 V12 TDI it is almost 6000lbs, that engine in a Jag XJS would be around 4000lbs!
2000lbs lighter than the actual Audi Q7! HMM power to weight ,Awesome.

MG truth is about the infamous GM Cadillac/ Oldsmobile Diesel engines ,they tried to convert a 350 olds GASoline engine, again bad bore/ stroke ratio!
and weak block and head combo, cast iron cranks, after 5 yrs of trying to make them reliable , they gave up@
OK at that time i was operating a DIESEL engine shop DAYTONA FL. i had close to 25 junk GM engines in back room!
GM finally used better quality cast iron , and much better head gaskets, the infancy of multilayer steel gasketS
and super steel hold down hardware, forged steel cranks, and forged steel rods, and new piston/ring technology!
WELL the main reason GM cashed it in was by then most of the people who bought Caddies and big Olds were rich people, a CLASS action lawsuit was launched!
no way out for GM ,to avoid multi millions of pay backs, they ceased all production of the cars, and the case was never completed!
this may make diesel sales some sense! no one can build a GOOD Hi tech diesel engine for the option price over a mass produced Gas engine, for paltry option of $800. bucks!
check the cost of diesel trucks vs gas powered!

I seriously contemplate buying a second Jag and shoehorning my Ford F350 diesel engine in. My truck with hardware and software upgrades sits at around 600+hp and god only knows how much torque... Last time I tried a 'charged' 4x4 launch I warped the front drive shaft and broke the rear carrier driveshaft bearing so I'd assume alot.
If I can do 0-60 in 5 seconds in a 13000lb loaded crewcab what will it do in a stripped XJS? I'd have to fit the Ford trans but maybe a lift kit will allow it haha!
after some time passed , a guy called up From England and wanted to buy ALL 20 odd GM junk engines, AS IS,
came in with $5000 cash USD , called a shipping company they all went to UK.
he said they can fix the problems with the engines , a market in UK for V8 Diesels , REPOWERING BIG old Rolls Royce, Bentleys, etc
at that time Petrol fuel was making a drive in those 6/7 ton cars useless!
shame that GM had to drop out of the small V8 diesel business, i owned a few because they were cheap!
i had a 1984 Cadillac fast back Seville and i regulary got 30- 34 MPG Diesel fuel! that engine never got a fair break, the last edition of them built finally were good engines, GM ceased production !
