Sorry, I suppose I could have added a bit more detail. The valve dropped into the cylinder. I didn't notice driving it, it destroyed the heads. Went sideways into the block and cracked the block. They sourced me an engine from California, this was the engine, transportation, rebuild, removal and installation cost. I agree, I was shocked at the price, but I diligently looked for over a year and a half for another option, and the most cost effective way was to go a conversion route.

For the same price as the replacement, I am getting a significantly more powerful engine, whole new drive-train and suspension, and will have a few extra thousand to kick around on goodies.

As for the carburetors vs fuel injection, it only comes down to options or preference for me. I like the look of a carb under the hood, i'm on the fence with nitrous or turbo or both, and figured carb was fairly cheap and easy and options are plenty with my plans in the future!

Cheers, and good question.

I have no doubt you looked diligently for a more reasonable solution. They are out there, but can be hard to find without the help of these forums. I think you could have gone 6.0L engine and transmission installed for a quarter of $18k. Not trying to dissuade you - just fodder for anyone else who's been quoted an outrageous price and is seeking other options.

Looking forward to seeing your progress!

The V12 is a wet liner block. Its unlikely you cracked the block, more than likely damaged 1 liner.

My 6.7L build will cost me about $8kUSD With Chef 305 pistons and modified Jag rods.

You are correct, I damaged the liner, but also pushed the top liner where the head joins into the liner and block. About a 4mm indent into the block. No other updates on the build in the last few days, I was convinced by the engine shop to jump into a 400 from a 350, so a few new parts are on the way. Tranny is out getting a shift kit as well.

more to come 😀

Wish I had noticed this thread earlier, I have a spare V12 engine sitting around! What machine shop did the engine work?

Oh man! I looked for about a year for a V-12.... Anyways, economy engines was the shop, it was a mix and match for a bunch of the machining work, several parts were sent out around the city.

When I have needed a machine shop I have used Muscle Motors in Strathmore. Not cheap, but good work.
