Default Mystery Switch! What does it do? V12 XJS

Hi

Under the Front Bumber/Fender next to the 'Horns' is a Red Rocker Switch does anyone know what it does?

I thought it might be to disarm the Car Alarm but it doesn't seem to do that, so its a mystery at the moment.

Doesn't look OEM, probably something like a kill switch added by the previous owner to keep his 16 year old from driving it while he was out of town, lol.

I believe it is the rare, optional, Lucas "never fail" switch. This part singlehandedly improved the average reliability percentages of the entire Lucas line.......... It doesn't do anything and it never fails to.

You're lucky to have it, you have the peace of mind knowing that something is always working perfectly

The horse obviously has the advantage (depending on your point of view of course) that when you get totally fed up with it you can eat it and make shoes out of it; can't do that with a Jag.

Yes, I own several horses and my Wife is a World Champion Equestrian. We love horses and Jags.

I know you are joking but it is clear that you have never owned a horse. I could no more eat one of my horses than I could eat one of my dogs. They are lovely creatures with noble spirits.

If you find yourself fed up with a horse it is usually because you are doing something wrong, usually it is a problem with tack or rider attitude. Come back the next day and things will be better for you and the horse.

Of course I was joking (I had Clarkson doing a voice over in my head whilst I was typing away) although having lived in France and been to Korea............
Quite often felt like eating the Jag or at least blowing it up spectacularly.

MMMMMH Horse steaks!

Don't know but anyone else but I prefer to fall out of my Jag than off a horse. LOL

Back to the switch, Ill put my money on that it was some sort kill switch installed by a previous owner, the only trouble it was probably made by Lucas so doesn't work anyway, that's why it does nothing now. Keep it in mind as one day it may decide to work and your will simply stop, you won't find the problem until you get that frustrated and nearly resort to actually putting a new motor in the car and while contemplating you find a little earth wire with a stupid switch installed that has stopped everything, not that its happened before. Only took me 4 days to find the one in brother-in-law,s Subaru that was installed in the glove box that his wife accidentally switched while putting in a new tissue box. LOL now but not at the time!
