Need advise: part out or sale as a "project"
1994 jaguar xjs
We'll... It has come to this... I have not been able to work on the jag for the past couple of years... I noticed the paint fading and cracking and decided to put it for sale so that someone with more time, money and experience could rescue it.... But I have not had any hits in the ad.
I will start lowering the price very slowly (always negotiable) to see if I create some interest...
I was wondering if parting it out would/could be more profitable and efficient to free the space up in my driveway?
What do you guys think?

I agree, you need better pictures to help any prospective buyer with the decision process. I recommend shots of the interior, engine bay and the major rust areas or other body damage. If I were interested in the vehicle the first thing I would ask for if I called would be more pictures and a detailed description of the known problems along with service history.
Also, as for parting it out. If you do not have the time, tools, etc. to work on the repair/restoration then you probably won't want to go throught the trouble of parting it out unless you have someone else pull the parts for you. In general I believe the disassembly of a vehicle can be as much or even more labor intensive work than reassembly. Especially being carefull not to damage any parts being setup for resale.
Good luck, whichever decision you make. Sad to see another one loosing the rust battle.

In the add you mention the car has rust and 167,000 miles. Rust repairs are expensive even for a DIY'er and with that mileage it's hardly worth it. rust and high mileage will scare many buyers away. Sadly this is a parts car for some one. Below are items of worth.
Rear tail light go for hundreds each, easy sell on ebay, easy to remove and ship too.
Rear IRS with 3.54 power-lok and out board brakes is worth 400 to 700
Basket weave wheels are worth 200 with bad tires.
Front IFS is worth 250 maybe more to a person who knows all the upgrades a later IFS has.
It will take time to find buyers...Jag projects are far and few between. There are many great parts that can be used to upgrade an early car... for example the IFS could be used to upgrade a Series 1 XJ sedan which has unvented front brakes. The rear IRS with its 3.54 ratio would be ideal for someone who's upgraded a V12 to a 700R4

Sharp photos are a must, even if stripping it for parts. If the photos are not good I don't bother following up adds because even bad photos are usually better than the real car. See the two following pics of my boot. Same paint, different photographer. One taken Friday when I picked up the car,the other Monday when I registered it.(hence the different rego No.)
A good photo could be the difference between getting someone through the door. And once you're in its hard to get out if you like the car.

Scrap metal, or advertise it to give away when you have sold what you can.
My TR7 was gone the same day when I advertised in the paper as a give away(before internet days)
I had about 30 phone calls within an hour of the paper going on sale. The guy who took it wanted the wheels and seats only.
(the paint job was thanks to my flatmates when I was away for the weekend)
