In all my pictures of when I removed the drivers side thermostat housing I don't seem to have this piece in it. It appears to attach to the thermostat housing but I don't know how. My guess is the two screw holes are held on the housing by the upper bolts on top of the housing itself but I am not sure.

If anyone could take a pic or give me a good explanation of where it belongs I would really appreciate it.

I suspect you are correct I will look at the 89 in the shop tomorrow when I go in and take a photo.

 

I looked at the Jag today the bracket does in fact attach to the thermostat housing The PCV tube attaches to the bracket. I have some photos on my i phone I will try and post them from my phone.

 

I am not having any luck with the photos. Should be easy to put the bracket back where it belongs.

 

That bracket on my '89 attaches to the thermostat housing using the upper two bolts and it supports the front end of the air cleaner using the stud on the bracket.
