Default Bluetooth Phone Pairing

I have a 2006 VP loaded with DVD...etc. When i push the telephone button to try to pair my bluetooth phone to the jag the touch screen states "car not fitted for telephone". This seems odd since it appears every technology piece available in jag is in my car.

I would really appreciate any suggestions on how to get to my bluetooth pairing. I have the owners manual and can follow instruction but cannot get off to a start with the process.

Thank you in advance!

Rick,

I've moved your question from XK8/XKR to X350 forum.

Members here with the same model will be able to help although I must say "car not fitted for telephone" would appear self explanatory.

There should be a small Bluetooth microphone just to the left of the sunglass holder. This thread has a picture of what it looks like. It was for an S-Type but the location is the same.

Well, appearances can be deceiving. Either you really don't have the phone module (not that unusual), or it is mysteriously disconnected (that would be quite odd).

If you press the phone button on the steering wheel and it mutes the radio,CD etc, you probably don't have the phone BT adaptor or voice command module fitted.

This I have gleaned from reading the multitude of threads on a similar subject in this forum.

Although I have been known to be wrong (many times to be exact!).

If you had the BT module, the phone menu would pop up with the number pad and it would show a signal strength on the right hand side of the screen. I'm assuming you are getting a plain tan screen with the not fitted warning?

Default BT Adapter

Torrid,
This is correct. I get the tan screen and no access to the on screen controls for telephone.
How do I get access to this? I am thinking a dealer needs to install hardware to make this happen?
Thanks

You need to just pull the trim back in the trunk & look to be honest. That'll pretty much answer everything...

Yeah, I think it has to be dealer installed and programmed.

(Not my add; reference only)

Early setup required phone module plus Bluetooth module plus microphone and addition to optical loop

Later setup combined phone and Bluetooth into a single unit. Still need to add a mic (unless car has voice) and likely need to add to the optical loop.

Thanks-
Mag

I know this post was a few years ago however, I thought it might be worth a try…..I installed a phone module and loop in the trunk on my 04 VDP. However, if it now wants a pin #. Do you know where I find this number?

Thanks,
Brian
