New A/C system, air routing issues
I've got the "custom designed" A/C system installed, and finally evacuated and charged it today. Produces plenty of cold air...too bad I can't direct it out the dash vents :-(
The system seems to 'leak' air everywhere at once, through the defrost vents and the heater vents. Virtually nothing comes through any of the dash vents.
In the attached photo I've removed the glove box and the access panel to the chamber that contains the heater core (left side of photo tilting forward), and behind that we can see the evaporator. Far right shows the blue intake tubes that suck environmental air in.
What I can't see is how to access or adjust any vents or ducts that direct the flow of air to the floor, the center vents, or the defrost vents. Mine is an '87, and the diagram in Palm doesn't seem to apply.
I do have the "hot cold" slider switch just below the radio, but sliding it one way or the other makes no difference on where the air ends up.
My temperature switch (on the left side of the radio) has the "manual override" feature, which doesn't do anything that I can tell when I pull it out.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
John
