Default New to me - 87 XJSC -V12

Just bought a 1987 XJSC with V12, all original with 29,267 miles on it. Excellent condition, just not driven much. Original owner passed away and his wife did not drive at all. Sat in garage for the most part but her family did keep service up on it, Had to replace battery, and repair small exhaust leak ( very minor). Has low voltage going to battery, probably corroded contacts or cables. But other than that runs great, smooth and loves gas. Have not tried to remove tops yet, came with a spare roof in storage bag. Original Jaguar wire wheels. Will post photos soon. Have it covered and up on storage rack.

Been off the forum for awhile, finally finished restoring my 1988 XJ6 VDP.

Glad to be back
Johnny

Will try to get some photos this weekend, planning on spending a lot of time with my new to me Pride and joy (hope wife and son does not see this). Body color code is AFV and Interior/Trim is AFR. I believe Jaguar calls this Satin Beige Clear w/ Wood smoke base , and interior is Buckskin. Built in 12/1986. Just received my Service / Repair manual yesterday so I'm ready to start chasing down the current draw between Alternator and Battery.

Just a quick note, Thought my wheels were original, but after repairing one of then, I found that they were Dayton Wheels.

Right.

Daytons were a very popular dealer/owner aftermarket item back in the day. Many believe them to be OEM factory installed wheels but Jaguar hasn't installed wire wheels since 1974/75 when the last of the E-types rolled off the line.

Cheers

Default 1988 Series III OEM Battery

I bought a spectacular 1988 Series III XJ12 (Canadian Model) a couple of years ago with 20,000 miles (kilometer speedo, 39K kilo or there abouts) I want to replace the battery with the correct manufacturer. Can someone tell me what the original battery would have been? Jaguar , Lucas, Bosch?
