Default New member looking for help: XJSC 1987

New member and owner of XJSC 1987
I'm a happy owner of a Jaguar XJ SC. My uncle for years have been collecting cars and I have been watching him and admire him from a distance. About 4 months ago my uncle told me he was selling one of his Jags. He let me purchase his XJSC to join the excitement of being a Jaguar owner. My V12 5.3 engine need some work. I will be asking a lot of questions on your posts and feeds. I definitely trying to make this a show car. Please feel free to start me off in the right direction in this project.

Welcome aboard.

Where to start is a difficult one, I would survey the car and detail everything that required repairing. Then decide if you do one job at a time or rotisserie restore it.

If it needs a lot of mechanical and body I would be inclined to strip it to a shell and restore the mechanicals while the body is away.

Good luck

Yes...., making and excel chart with the iusses. Minor body work. Have all three tops in working condition but need to be repainted. The writer side door won't open and the engine is blown. 95,000 miles everything works. Getting details equipment now if I don't already have. I don't mind getting my hands dirty. Taking pictures and making a list.

See if you can find the details on the engine being "blown" as this is extremely rare for the 5.3 V12.
