hey all. I've owned Katie (1985 xjs) for about a year but only now have i found this wealth of information. like any 25 year old cat she has her problems, but when all in the universe is right there is nothing better. I do have a bulb out light that come on when it feels the urge, although all lights are functioning properly. All the bulbs are oem resistance and have good connections. any ideas?

Hi SERE

If thats all thats wrong with Katie you're doing pretty well !

Does the bulb check light come on when you are driving ? If so it's probably a loose connection or an intermittent earth fault. I would methodically go around all the bulbs and their holders and give them a good clean anyway, it can't do any harm

And the jolly old bulb failure modules can have their woes. They can tell you a bulb is out even when you are standing there beating the car with a stick screaming at it that 'the bulb is lit' because you can see!

BTW Welcome to the Forums why not introduce yourself over in the new member area. You'll also find some useful Forum tips over there.

Aha ! I knew the bulb warning light couldn't be the only issue on an 85 XJS :-)

Glad you got that fixed, good luck with the main seal

she does have a few little issues. the rear main being the most pressing. but if there weren't problems to play with what fun would it be?
