I have the manual as a pdf. I just print the pages I need and don't have to worry about getting greasy fingerprints on the book.

Realize that there is the Repair Operations Manual (ROM), and then there's the Workshop manuals. Two děfferent factory publications. The ROM is more for the DIYer, and the Workshop manuals cover some things not in the ROM, sometimes in greater detail. The ROM is a single book, and the Workshop manuals are a set of 4 volumes. Neither is what I consider great; very few diagrams, very little real step by step procedures. Line drawings at best. Haynes has more step by step, but leaves out a lot. I use the ROM more than anything. The ROM has wiring diagrams, but they range from passable to awful, depending on what year you are dealing with. In some cases the keys to items on the diagram are alphabetical, but in other cases in numerical order. Finding a particular item on a diagram can be an exercise in frustration.
I probably use Kirby Palms book more than any of the manuals, as it is generally useful to point me in the right direction, even if it is somewhat dated.

The year by year product intro manuals are useful, as is the HE tuning guide and the electrical fault diagnosis manual if it covers your year of car.
