Pirelli P600?
Any idea when they stopped making the Pirelli P600's in 235/60-15? I've seen on some sites they're selling them, but not sure if I want to buy tires that have been sitting around for a decade....
I didn't know they were out of production...although it wouldn't be a surprise. The demand can't be very great.
There's probably a web page somewhere that explains the different sidewall date codes used by tire manufacturers. With taht info you could ask the vendor to check his stock....and hope for an answer :-)

The P600 was the last of the 235/60x15s with a "V" or higher speed rating...if that matters to you.
More choices in 225/60x15 or with 16" wheels....which some guys are turning to

Yes, it's important to note, that if you search for tires based on the car, you'll get a very limited list of options...since they'll all have to be speed rated.
If you do a search based on the size, then you'll get far more options.
I run Bridgestone Pole Position AS980 (or something like that) on mine, and they are fantastic. I've had them on for 10,000 miles now.

I do have them in 225. That's what is standard for my 1996 model.
The only option I have is whether to go 55 or 60. I have stayed at 55.

They actually still produce P600's in 235/60-15, however....

Had to deal with this sooner than I expected (screw in tire). Ended up with the B F Goodrich T/A at the local NTB.
What difference will 225 versus 235 make?

The circumference is slightly smaller so the speedo will read a bit faster...I'm guessing 3% or so.

Heard back from Pirelli regarding availability in US
"We don't have an exact time as to when the tire will be available, but it will be a minimum of 90 days.

Maybe the price will drop once they're available?....

BFG sells the 235/60x15 in their basic "T/A" line up (all BFG tires, as far as I know, carry the "T/A" name...but they're not all the same).
I had a set of the BFG 235/60s (on my XJ6) and they were fine. The regular "T/A" is basically just a tire...nothing really special about them and nothing bad about them, either. You won't have any complaints about them, I suspect.
If you are presently running P600s or other performance tire with a stiff casing you might find the regular "T/A" a bit softer on the corners.
When I had an XJS I ran BFG "Touring T/A" 225/60x15 which was a semi-high performance tire with a "V" speed rating. It was a terrific tire in all respects. I'm pretty sure that model is discontinued now.
I've had 3 or 4 sets of BFG "KDWS" T/As on my XJR and, previously, my Mustang. A very good performance tire, I really was happy with them, but I had to give them up due to low tread life.
I presently have BFG Advantage T/A on my XJR. I am very happy with them...."V" speed rating but it looks like I'll get at least 30k miles out of them which is better than usual as the higher speed rated tires go.
As you can see I like BFG tires :-). I've also been very happy with Michelin and others but dollar for dollar the BFGs always seems to fill the bill for me.

Here in the UK, tyres have a shelf life of 5 years, the date can be worked out from a code next to the DOT mark although not all tyre actually have this mark. Altering the width of the tyre affects the aspect ratio ie the height of the tyre and therefore the diameter and therefore the speedo accuracy and the trip computer. I was lucky and paid a fortune for 2 new tyres that were 6 month old stock. Shop around, they are out there - Pirelli UK still manufacture the tyre but "at present, have no plans to manufacture them in the near future." Good luck.
actually tirerack.com has them in stock right now.
