Default Polishing XJS Rims

I couldnt find anything regarding this in the detailing section so Im posting here. Has anyone tried to polish XJS rims? I have the lattice rims on my 94. There seems to be a coating of some sort on them. Has anyone tried to remove the coating, polish them, and then put on a clear coat? I know there is a guy on ebay who sells chrome rims but I like the look of polished aluminum. its slightly less shiny than chrome plating.

I went with powder coating. The finish you speak of was all peeling, powder coat was the cheaper (50%) option and worked out well for me at about $65Cdn per wheel. There was some kind of coating on the back side, where the wheel meets the hub and the guy who did it for me had a hell of a time getting that off. Still my wheels looked, and still look great. I know there was a company in Calgary that refinishes them for around $130 per wheel at that time so you can probably find something in your area. I have and may have posted some before and after pix, if you can't find them PM me and I 'll forward

A few months ago I decided to tart up my 21 year old kerbed and very flat looking lattice wheels.

I had them powder coated to a highly polished satin finish.
Here's the wheel back from the restorer.

And on the car
