Default Power steering issue

Hi folks, anyone know what causes the power steering to "tighten" when turning? Mine is fine at first then it hits spots where it gets harder to turn. 1990 XJS V12, fluid is full in pump unit

Welcome to the forum Red89XJS,

You've already posted an Intro so I've moved your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to XJS forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

1st suggestion:

How old is the fluid?? Should be refreshed every year.

Clearly the rack seals can wear out, due to stale fluid, and that will cause a by-passing, and hard spots.

Soooo, change the fluid, and see what happens. Maybe twice after a few lock to lock movements of the rack.
