Power Steering Pump - Spin Freely or Ristance
Hello all,
I have a 1992 Jaguar XJS and am working hard to compete "while you are in there projects". One of those was rebuilding the power steering pump (first time for me).
I'm now installing the various belts and I notice that the power steering pump just doesn't spin as freely as everything else (ie. water pump, A/C unit, etc.). I've attached a video.
A couple of points to keep in mind:
1) I installed a new sleeve in the power steering unit (through which the shaft goes to the pully)
2) There is no fluid in the unit yet
If you look at the video, it will show the level of resistance.
Thoughts? Have I messed something up???
Cheers,
Stephen
