Default pulse trigger probs

I've been reading posts about injector pulse trigger problems and thought I was on the rite track, but when I looked inside my distributer I found no pulse trigger. Instead all I found was the standard magnectic pickup of a typical elontronic ignition (without fuel injection). The car starts for a sec. with starting fluid.
'85 XJS, V12 HE new fuel pump & fiter, Flushd out injectrors well, got fuel pressure at rails.
Any ideas ?
Mort

It was the pre-HE engines where the fuel injector triggering came from the distributor pick-up

With the key 'on' depress the throttle. Do you hear the injectors click? If not I'd suspect lack of supply voltage from the injector resistor pack or perhaps a dead throttle position sensor.

One of the sticky threads at the top of this section contains downloads for the S57 wiring guide and the S58 V12 engine performance guide. Those might be helpful if you haven't seen them already

Cheers
DD

The notorious "shielded wire" from the ignition amp (black box on the LH inlet manifold) is NOT talking to pin #18 of the ECU in the boot.

This shielded wire provides the signal pulse that activates the ECU to wake up the injectors.

This wire ONLY takes control AFTER starting the engine.

During "cranking", the starter relay "tricks" the ECU to fire the injectors without a pulse from that wire. This "trick" wire is to pin #26 of the ECU and the C1/C4 of the starter relay.

Then the EFI loom may be toasted in the bottom of the V, sooooooo common. This will short the system, and the injectors are either ON of OFF. Yours be OFF.

This "pin out" I use for V12 engine fires may assist you.

Thanks all for the tips. I'll look into those ideas, I do have a broken throttle switch.
Best Regards,
Mort
