Default radio reception

G'day Gents:

I'm getting poor reception.

I just replaced my antenna stalk. Works fine as far as the up/down with the radio power or boot opening etc. Grounds are on, antenna connection clean, I think I got it all back together correctly, just getting poor reception.

Appreciate any thoughts or tips the group may have.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom:

I do.
1. I've noticed poorer reception on each of my cars. Coincidental. Perhaps, but, not so. Static in my Jeep is worse than ever. Why? New fuel pump/fuel guage module leaks RF?

2. No recent electrical swaps in my lumped Jaguar. Signal still OK, but sataticy in some areas around here.

3. The comments in 1 & 2 apply to AM. FM is better in each car.

4. Weather has an effect on AM ? I don't knw for sure, but I have my suspicions.

5. Add a length of bare wire to the extended antennae mast. Better? If so, your connections are probably fine. The poor reception reason les elsewhere

Different antennas have different gain structure, in other words if the antenna has no gain (boost) and you are in a poor reception area the radio signal may be close to the noise floor.

You could try an amplifier something like this

Best location for it is as close to antenna as possible.
