Default Red flashing light

Hi all, I am trying to find out why my xjs 4 litre straight 6 1991/2 wont start, on investigation on removing the centre consul I have found a red flashing light, I assume its an alarm of some sort, it is flashing away without the ignition switched on. I have not got a push button fob for this one, just 'dongles' on the key? any help would be great thanks John

John,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XJS forum. This is one for the model specialists.

Hi to all.. we now have a running XJS... hooray.. the problem was the alarm was preventing starting. if you get a light under the consul, shut doors lock door on key 5/6 times, put key in ignition to position 2, that will turn off light. (many thanks to the post on forum), but still no start, check ohms on coil 1.5 and 7.8 so ok. trace leads back to relay change leads and bingo, she runs. so can now get her taxed/insured and used. this worked on the 91/92 facelift xjs, the alarm has not got the remote, just some dongles on the key. thanks for everyones help and suggestions. I hope this may help someone in the future. regards John
