Revs fluctuating on 3.6 1988
Hi all
My 1988 XJS 3.6 ha an issue whereby the revs hunt/fluctuate, occasionally stalling the engine. Also, this is exaggerated when driving at slow speeds; it causes the car to lurch or kangaroo. I am keen to get this resolved, and wonder whether it may be an idle control valve that needs changing, in which case would anyone be able to recommend a new one which would be a direct fit?
Thanks for reading

Sounds like it can be the Idle Air Control Valve. (IACV)
JDHT should provide you with the part number. Or you can visit places like RockAuto?
It can also be due to a gummed up/clogged butterfly at your intake. It's rather easy to get to, and is best performed by taking the throttle body completely off, so you can clean it from both ends.
