Default Should this be connected?!

Hi all, just got the car back from the body shop after my little prang and the guy there pointed out the item in the picture was disconnected and was it meant to be?
Either it disconnected in the crash which I think is unlikely, the mechanic I used beforehand forgot to connect it - he's pretty forgetful so you never know! or he disconnected it on purpose.
Can someone tell me what it is and should I connect it up again? The car seems to be running ok.
Many thanks!

It connects direct to that AIr Temp Sensor right under your hand.

NO big issue, as the ATS is only a fuel trimmer, and the engine will run and perform just fine with it unplugged, although a tad rich at some times.
