Started thinking about the addition of side vents behind the front wheels. I recently had my XF chrome blacked out in gloss black on lunar grey and when we got to the side vents, I had him take off the chrome covers and simply paint the factory vents black.
Just realized he even painted the stick on chrome covers black as well. (in the trunk) I noticed the width matches perfectly to the side leaper badges. If I move the badges up to the belt line edge, the black lower portion of the XF vent fits perfectly beneth it. since it flexes a bit, it would curve to the contour of the XJS. And since they and the car are the same black, they look totally right!
I'm seriously thinking about using 3M badge tape to install, and using a strip of black household self stick door jam insulation just inside the lip to fill in the open gap a bit.
I tried the top part but the angle looked forced, unlike the bottom portion. And sitting beside my XF, there's a strange "right " look about them. I almost wonder what the chrome vent would look like!
